BICC will host the
Cleveland and Bradley County
2012 Summit on Families and Youth
Saturday, June 2, 2012
Who: Leaders in Cleveland and Bradley County (church, civic, community, business & government)
What: “A Day of Dialogue” to develop a shared vision for building healthy families and community. This vision will include:
- An agreed upon statement about the importance of families
- Compile a list of activities families can do to strengthen their relationships
- Identify existing family-focused programs and resources in our community
- Brainstorm other solutions to strengthen our families and community
Why:
- Families are struggling to effectively deal with emerging trends that negatively impact the physical, mental and social capacity that allows youth and families to live their best lives
- Many of our youth engage in behaviors that negatively impact their ability to thrive socially and academically
- A growing number of our youth K-12 enter the Campus Court and/or Juvenile Court systems each year. Information provided by the Bradley County Juvenile shows the following averages between 2009 and 2011:
Campus Court: 1 in 14 students in Cleveland and Bradley County
Juvenile Court: 1 in 21 students in Cleveland and Bradley County
- The entire community shares responsibility for the well-being of our children and youth
When: Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
Where: Johnston Woods Recreation Center
Cost: There is no cost; however a donation to help cover the cost of the meal will be greatly appreciated
